THE DINO ROSSI QUESTION: Robert W. Peck, State Chairman, Constitution Party of Washington - August 12, 2010

A friend recently asked me for my take on the U.S. Senate race and the 'Dino Rossi question.' They asked "Are the Republicans supporting Rossi?? Who should we be supporting?" In asking "are the Republicans supporting Rossi?" I am confident they were referring to the state Republican Party, or more precisely, the party's leadership and the establishment power structure within the party. It is quite apparent to me "the Republicans" are indeed supporting Rossi.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, and please provide the evidence to establish that fact, but it appears to me that Mr. Rossi is a moderate who represents the establishment powers that are backing him and is being used by the same to undercut Clint Didier because Didier represents actual Constitutional policies and the grassroots populace. My perception is that the establishment powers are afraid they could loose control of the situation, loose control of the Republican Party, and end up with someone in the U.S. Senate who actually understands the God-given role of civil government, upholds the original intent of the U.S. Constitution, protects the God-given rights of the people, and most frightful of all to the establishment powers, would embolden the grassroots, Tea Partiers and the like, to rise up, shake off the yoke of the establishment powers and take back our country and our liberty.

HOBSON'S CHOICE (from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary):

1. an apparently free choice when there is no alternative;
2. the necessity of accepting one of two equally objectionable alternatives.
In the late 16th and early 17th centuries, Thomas Hobson worked as a licensed carrier of passengers, letters, and parcels between Cambridge and London, England. He ...kept horses for this purpose and rented them to university students when he wasn't using them. Of course, the students always wanted their favorite mounts, and consequently a few of Hobson's horses became overworked. To correct the situation, Hobson began a strict rotation system, giving each customer the choice of taking the horse nearest the stable door or none at all. This rule became known as "Hobson's choice," and soon people were using that term to mean "no choice at all" in all kinds of situations.

The current American political situation is HOBSON's CHOICE in action. The voter is given two choices and two choices only, both of whom state that they are radically opposed to one another, but in reality both move the country in the same direction, just in different ways and at different paces. We would not be in this situation had not both choices let us down this path by wandering away from our constitutional roots. Both parties have had generations to correct their path and have not done it. The Constitution Party offers an opportunity to break that destructive cycle, yet voters continue to allow themselves to be swayed into HOBSON's CHOICE by tired old arguments that didn't work in the 1990's, didn't work in 2008, and won't work now.

ITS TIME TO MOVE ON AND BREAK OUT OF HOBSON's CHOICE. VOTE FOR THE VOICE OF REASON BY CHOOSING A CONSITUTIONALLY COMMITTED CANDIDATE OF WHATEVER PARTY OR AN INDEPENDENT, rather than someone who can be persuaded by political party elitists.

IF YOU ARE CONCERNED THAT A THIRD PARTY WILL "split the vote," please read this article by State Chairman Robert W. Peck: Why Voting for a Third Party is NOT a Wasted Vote

FREE MARKET POLITICAL SOLUTION: "I find it interesting that over and over I hear 'conservative' Republicans saying that a a third choice on the ballot is a bad thing, will split the vote, foul up the whole balance of power, dilute the system, etc. But aren't these the same conservatives who tout free market economic solutions, saying that freedom of choice in the market place will encourage competition, more choice, better products, etc. as producers compete for their market share. Part of that free market philosophy also says that if a company or business can't hold on to its market share and doesn't adapt to give its customers what they want, then it deserves to fail. I actually agree with that philosophy and believe that if it's true in one matter, then it can be applied in all. If a given political party does not provide the product that their base supporters want, then another party should come along and provide that product and pick up that market share. If there are only two stores in town, both selling mostly the same line of cheap stuff made in China and I don't want the products being sold by either store, then is the answer for me to pledge to continue to shop at one of those stores and to lobby to keep any other stores from moving into town, then, once I have made my town safe for the two store monopoly, complain that they continue to sell me the same old products that I never wanted in the first place. Any rational, sane, free market conservative would go out and look for a store that is selling what they want, then work to convince them to open a store in their town in the hope of forcing the existing stores to compete and maybe change their product line or be forced out of business." Robert W. Peck, State Chairman, 27 July 2010.

THE 10th AMENDMENT: STATE SOVEREIGNTY

The Tenth Amendment states:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States,
are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The Constitution delegated few, enumerated powers to the Federal Government, reserving all remaining powers to the States and the people. Thus, powers of the Federal were the exception. Our federal republic was created by joint action of the several states. It has been gradually perverted into a socialist machine for federal control in the domestic affairs of the states. The federal government has no authority to mandate policies relating to state education, natural resources, transportation, private business, housing, and health care, ad infinitum.

We call upon the states to reclaim their legitimate role in federal affairs and legislation and thus cause the federal government to divest itself of operations not authorized by the Constitution and extract the federal government from such enterprises, whether or not they compete with private enterprise.

Constitution Party of Washington

“We declare the platform of the Constitution Party to be predicated on the principles of The Declaration of Independence The Constitution of the United States And The Bill of Rights according to the original intent of the Founding Fathers. These founding documents are the foundation of Liberty and are the Supreme Law of the Land. The sole purpose of government, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, is to secure our unalienable rights given us by our Creator. When Government grows beyond this scope, it is usurpation, and liberty is compromised. We believe the major issues we face today are best solved by a renewed allegiance to the original intent of these founding documents.”

Constitution Party of Washington joins the Washington Values Alliance in Support of Referendum 71 to overturn Senate Bill 5688!

Dateline: Kent, Washington--
The Constitution Party of Washington announces its decision to support Referendum 71. Referendum 71 would overturn SB 5688, a recently-passed bill which “expands the rights and responsibilities of state registered domestic partners.” As its platform plank on the Family states:

"No government may legitimately authorize or define marriage or family relations, as affirmed by the 10th amendment, delegating to the people as our founders understood the family as necessary to the general welfare. We affirm the importance of Biblical scripture in the founders' intent as eloquently stated by Noah Webster: "The moral principles and precepts contained in the Scriptures ought to form the basis of all our civil constitution and laws… All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts in the Bible."
The law of our Creator defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman. The marriage covenant is the foundation of the family, and the family is fundamental in the maintenance of a stable, healthy and prosperous social order. No government may legitimately authorize or define marriage or family relations contrary to what God has instituted. We are opposed to amending the U.S. Constitution for the purpose of defining marriage.
We reject the notion that sexual offenders are deserving of legal favor or special protection, and affirm the rights of states and localities to proscribe offensive sexual behavior. We oppose all efforts to impose a new sexual legal order through the federal court system. We stand against so-called "sexual orientation" and "hate crime" statutes that attempt to legitimize inappropriate sexual behavior and to stifle public resistance to its expression. We oppose government funding of "partner" benefits for unmarried individuals. Finally, we oppose any legal recognition of homosexual unions.
We recognize that parents have the fundamental right and responsibility to nurture, educate, and discipline their children. We oppose the assumption of any of these responsibilities by any governmental agency without the express delegation of the parents or legal due process. We affirm the value of the father and the mother in the home, and we oppose efforts to legalize adoption of children by homosexual singles or couples.
The Constitution Party of Washington believes that it is through the ballot box that the voice of the people of the state of Washington can be made clear to state legislators and governing officials, therefore, it is committed to supporting a referendum to roll back SB 5688 which allows the express will of the people to be heard over the noise of special interest groups and lobbyists in the marbled halls of Olympia."
